Rosario Dawson is pretty in purple as she joins Chris Rock to re-shoot scenes for new comedy Finally Famous

He plays a comedian striving to become a 'serious' actor, while she plays an intelligent and beautiful journalist.

And their on-screen chemistry was obvious when Chris Rock and Rosario Dawson met in New York on Friday to re-shoot scenes for their upcoming comedy Finally Famous.

The movie is written and directed by 49-year-old Rock and shooting originally began in June 2013.

The pair took the re-shoot in their stride joining co-star J.B. Smoove on the Big Apple set.

Rock plays Andre Allen, a comedian who has been persuaded by his reality star fiance Erica Long (played by Gabrielle Union) into televising their upcoming wedding. Dawson, 34, plays a journalist for the New Yorker who interviews Allen about his soon-to-be-broadcast nuptials.

And according to Splitsider their meeting is 'a feisty, funny, no-holds-barred interaction that may well change the course of both their lives'.

Rosario looked radiant, showing off her toned legs in a purple floral dress cinched at the waist with a matching leather belt.

She rocked her funky one-sided buzz cut, sweeping her curled locks to the side and finishing the outfit with grey ankle boots and a rust red boho style bag.

Rock on the other hand was clean-cut in a crisp white shirt, black leather jacket and black jeans.

Chatting as they crossed the road the stars looked at ease and in their element.

And the Madagascar star was obviously having a blast with the cast as he Tweeted the day before: 'JB Smoove should have a late night show. He's the funniest'.

Smoove, who plays Rock's security guard in the film, looked dapper in a grey blazer and brown trousers.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that Rock will be presenting at the American Comedy Awards on May 8 alongside Bill Hader and Johnny Knoxville.
